Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist · Doctor of Social Work
Dr. Anthony Owliaie, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Doctor of Social Work, created PCRDM to help parents and children understand how their relationship changes as they develop.
The model began in clinical practice with a mother and her teenage daughter who were struggling to relate. Mapping the daughter’s development offered a way to understand their changing relationship. That initial arc grew into a model spanning the relationship’s full lifespan—as the child becomes an adult and the parent ages into their elder years.
Drawing on nearly two decades of clinical work with clients ranging from six months to 91 years old, Dr. Owliaie continues to refine PCRDM through practice. His work across generations informs the model’s focus on changing roles, expectations, and ways of relating.
Training & SpeakingUnderstanding Relationships
The model’s two arcs bring the child’s development and the parent’s later development into one view. Listening, Opinion, and Freedom offer a vocabulary for exploring those experiences; relational steering, fluidity, and fracture help frame conversations about how the relationship responds.
Ongoing Development
Dr. Owliaie’s aim is to help families and professionals approach developmental change with greater awareness, empathy, and understanding. PCRDM continues to develop through practice, education, reflection, and ongoing refinement.
Future work includes educational resources and opportunities for research and collaboration.
